One of my friend's wife's co-worker recommended dinner at Basque Cultural Center. This was great meal. Everything was flavorful. We loved how they have daily prix fixe menu items. Saturday's prix fixe items are cod fritters as the appetizer and Roast New York as the main dish $48. It starts with a pot of butternut squash soup at the table. There's bread and butter to dip onto the soup. If you ask, they will give you olive oil for the bread. Next is a salad with this tasty white dressing. The prix fixe meal came with cod fritter as appetizers. We also wanted to try their escargot $17 and today's special, not on the menu, scallops $40. Both were very good. When our entrees arrived, Roast New York's and duck with orange sauce $45, we were surprised how good their mashed potatoes were. Very creamy and goes well with the mains. As for the ambiance, it is a quiet restaurant with 80% full on a Saturday night. The guest are old and respectfully talking at low volumes. Tables aren't right next to each other where you have to shout over each other. The dining room is bright enough to see what you are eating. I like that. The holiday decorations are up and it puts everyone in a good mood. Awesome job everyone at Basque Cultural Center.
This a quiet, yet elegant place to come for lunch. It is tucked away in South San Francisco. The service gentle, caring, not rushed. The food is prepared in the style of the Basque area of Spain and delicious. I had the Basque pasta with spicy tomato, spicy, but not overwhelmingly so.
Visited this center for a funeral reception last week. Service was very nice if not a bit delayed. Parking was easy. Bathrooms were clean. Food was good, chicken breast and rice with vegetables on the side. Good flavor!
Had lunch here today with my friends. All the food was outstanding and so was the service. I had the tomato soup, the duck and the basque cheesecake. Delicious wine as well. 5 star restaurant!
Lovely place for family gatherings. Excellent service.. the only thing was we had to wait first few minutes for the staff to get a table ready inspite of having made a reservation. That aside, the salmon was really good. The soup was also good. In all well worth your money. In about 40$, you get a whole meal with salad, main and dessert. The flan was really good! Definitely going to go back again.
Party of 4. Had grilled shrimp with polenta and it was excellent. Shrimp was crunchy, polenta creamy. 2 others had steak and 1 had rack of lamb. Sampled lamb and it was tender and cooked perfectly as ordered, med rare. 2 who ordered steak had no complaints although 1 had ordered rare, but cooked med. Included with meal is soup and salad. Service was friendly and efficient. Cost a bargain. Recommended!
The food is great. The lamb is magnificent. 5.5 stars. Service is good, should be 4.5 stars. Atmosphere 4.5. It can be bit nosy, they need some acoustic absorption material, however the facility is very nice, very clean and has fresh new look to it. This the third time I've eaten here in the past five years and it has been consistently good.
